ATU's WiSAR Technology Gateway

As a member of the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Programme, the WiSAR Technology Gateway delivers near to market solutions for industry with an advanced test environment to accelerate R&D in the development and warehousing of IoT technology.

The WiSAR Technology Gateway is home to a dedicated team of researchers and engineers working on a wide range of collaborative R&D industry projects, equipped with a state-of-the-art test laboratory, wireless testbeds, industrial sensors and prototyping facilities, for embedded circuit design. This expertise enables WiSAR to work with companies from various sectors to design IoT products and systems from concept to advanced near-to-market prototypes.

The Gateway has full IOT technology stack capability with research incorporating physical data collection, edge computing, communication protocols, data analytics, AI and machine learning. Our sector focus is on smart and connected industries such and health-tech, agriculture, renewables and industry 4.0.

UU Intelligent Systems Research Centre (ISRC)

ISRC research is enabled by over 20 years of experience and focus on developing fundamentally new AI algorithms in areas such as self-organising fuzzy neural networks, spiking neural networks, predictive modelling and analytics, computer vision, evolutionary algorithms, accelerated computing on FPGAs and bioinspired hardware self-repair.

NWRC Innovation Centres

NWRC’s Foodovation Centre is located in their Northland Building, Strand Road Campus, Derry-Londonderry providing a one-stop-shop for current and aspiring food industry producers across the region,

NWRC’s Product Design Centre is a state-of-the-art facility, equipped with the latest additive and subtractive technology, as well as an electronics laboratory, this resource has everything that innovators need to make product ideas a commercial reality.

NWRC’s DIAL Centre’s focus is to promote greater collaboration, learning and innovation that will support independence and a quality of life for greater numbers of people to live well. It improves collaboration and knowledge exchange across many vocational disciplines with a wraparound business development and mentoring support.

The Industry 4.0 Centre at the NWRC’s Springtown Campus is the latest addition to the innovation and skills centres, with a focus on supporting SMEs and local businesses in the areas of industry 4.0, automation and robotics.

NWRC’s Extended Reality (XR) Hub specialises in augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to support and upskill local entrepreneurs and businesses, with a range of VR and AR equipment and facilities. The XR Hub advises on both software and hardware to improve processes using toolsets, experience and advice.
