
NW DEPTH @ ATU
NW DEPTH – is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) – and is led by Atlantic Technological University in partnership with Ulster University, North West Regional College, and Donegal Education and Training Board via their well-established strategic collaboration, the North West Tertiary Education Cluster (NWTEC).
The overall objective is to develop a learner-centred Digital Skills framework that encourages progression of individuals on flexible but structured pathways; supporting them to move up the relevant qualification framework, and to help these individuals be better placed to enter, re-enter, remain or progress their role in the NW region workforce.
ATU is offering innovative courses via NW DEPTH at Level 6, Level 7, Level 8, and Level 9 in the Irish QQI Qualifications Framework. Many of these programmes will be equivalent to one year of full-time learning at 60 credits and they are available part-time and online. These NW DEPTH awards represent accessible Next Step awards allowing individuals to add to their qualifications and move up the qualifications framework and progress in their employment.
Delivery model
- All courses are flexibly delivered up to 100% online
- Often involving two evenings per week
- A common model is three structured 10 week blocks with two modules per block;li>
NW DEPTH is for learners resident or working in the North West cross-border region and PEACEPLUS Programme Area which covers Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland: Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Cavan, Monaghan, and Louth.

Certificate in Digital Skills (QQI Level 6)
Course Overview
Ideal for administrative staff and junior managers in a range of small and medium companies.
What will you learn? Digital Marketing, E-Commerce, Enhanced Office Applications, Information Management, IT Administration, and social media.

This course is ideal for administrative staff and junior managers in a range of small and medium companies.
Entry Requirements
A Level 5 qualification (includes Leaving Certificate) or at least 3 years appropriate industry experience.
A mature learner (over 23 by 1st January in the proposed year of entry) preferably with appropriate industry experience.

BSc Honours in Cybersecurity (QQI Level 8)
Course Overview
This course is a Level 8 BSc Hons in Cybersecurity. The objective of the course is to guide learners who have good general experience in and knowledge of technical computing and augment their skills and knowledge in readiness to begin a career in Cybersecurity.
The course is made up of 6 modules. Students need to have a computing background but do not need to have a Cybersecurity background.
Examination and Assessment
Continuous assessment will be used to assess students. This may include, individual assignments, group assignments, lab workbooks, online/in class tests, presentations/demonstrations.
Who Should Apply?
This award is suitable for learners who have a good general knowledge of computing but who would like to gain valuable skills in the area of Cybersecurity.
Entry Requirements
The course will be available to applicants who meet the following criteria:
- Level 7 qualification in computing.
- Level 6 qualification in computing with three years appropriate work experience.
Candidates who do not have a degree but have significant relevant experience may also be eligible for consideration via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) which includes a combination of education, training and work experience.

Postgraduate Diploma in Applied AI (QQI Level 9)
Course Overview
